The fog comes
on little cat feet.
It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.
Hi Ted, I remember studying this poem in English Literature. We were told to write an essay on the meaning of it. It was sometime before his death in the 60’s, I saw Carl Sanburg on television and he was asked about its meaning. He said he didn’t know and told the interviewer to ask the professors of English Lit!!! 😆 I laugh till I cried!!
I’ve heard that too. Like the Beatles songs that people attached all that meaning to, when all they were doing was writing silly things and rhyming. Paul said they had some good laughs.
